If you're a staff member with higher permissions, you'll be required to authenticate your account at login, using a multi-factor authentication app.

Important: To make this process easier, grab your smart phone and a computer. On the computer, head to Momence.com and sign in. Then, start the video below.

For more information on why this is required, a step by step guide, and troubleshooting, see the text below.

Step 1: Download Google Authenticator

Step 2: Login with 2FA

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA/2FA) with Momence

Multi-factor authentication (MFA), also known as two-factor authentication (2FA), is a security measure that extends user authentication with an additional layer of protection. With MFA/2FA activated, email and password alone are not sufficient to log in. An additional physical device, usually a mobile phone, is required to verify the login attempt.

Who needs to use MFA/2FA?

Starting November 18, MFA/2FA will be required for all hosts. Before this date, you can optionally enable MFA/2FA to enhance your account security.

Currently, MFA/2FA is especially important for staff members who can manage:

  • Inbox

  • Staff accounts

  • Staff roles

  • Billing

Setting up 2FA

To set up 2FA, you'll need:

  1. Your Momence account credentials

  2. A smartphone with an authenticator app installed (see supported apps below)

Supported Authentication Apps

Here are Links to app stores:
โ€‹Apple App Store
โ€‹Google Play

Step-by-Step Setup Process:

  1. Log in to your Momence account

  2. When prompted, choose "Set up 2FA"

  3. Download and install one of the supported authenticator apps if you haven't already

  4. Scan the QR code shown on your screen with your authenticator app

    • If you can't scan the QR code, you can manually enter the setup key

    • Some apps may ask you to choose an algorithm - use SHA1

    • Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app to confirm setup

  5. Save your backup codes in a secure location

Important: Your 2FA isn't active until you complete the entire setup process. Completion will result in a 6 digit code appearing in the 2FA app that changes frequently for security reasons (see example below). If you're not required to use MFA/2FA yet, you can cancel the setup by closing the page.

Common Issues and Solutions

QR Code Scanning Issues

  • Ensure your phone's camera is clean and well-lit

  • Try moving closer or farther from the screen

  • If scanning fails, use the manual entry option provided

Invalid Code Errors

  • Check that your device's time is set to update automatically

  • Ensure you're using the most current code from your authenticator app

  • Verify you're entering all six digits correctly

Device Change or App Transfer

  • If you're getting a new phone, transfer your authenticator app first

  • Some apps (like Google Authenticator) have a transfer feature

  • Use your backup codes if you can't transfer the app

Setup Not Completing

  • Make sure to complete all steps until you see the success message

  • Don't close the setup page until it's finished

  • If you need to start over, log out and back in

2FA not being required after setting it up

This is expected. After setting 2FA up, your device will be saved as safe for 30 days. If you use a different device, or it's been 30 days since you set it up, you should be prompted to enter your 2FA code again. If that's not the case, let us know.

Still Need Help?
