Transfers

Transfer a customer to another membership

If a customer has expressed interest in moving from one membership to another, you can make this happen by heading to their profile (click Customers > Customer List > search for them).

From their profile > click the dropdown menu to the right > click Transfer > select the timing option that fits with the circumstance.

If you're wondering what the red text on incompatibility at the bottom of this message means, this auto-setting ensures the customer's existing bookings match their new memberships benefits.

In other words, if the original membership was applicable to certain classes that the new membership is not applicable to, the customer will be cancelled out of those classes after the transfer is complete.

Move a membership from one customer to another

Much like subletting an apartment, customers can tap their friends to take over membership payments.

Here's how to make this happen:

Head to the customer's profile who currently has the subscription or pack > click the dropdown menu to the right of the membership > click Move to other customer

Choose who its going to.

If this is an auto-renewing membership and no card is found on file, Momence will warn you that this customer receiving the membership will need to add a card before the next renewal (or they'll lose the benefits).

If you then navigate to the receiving customers profile, you'll see the new membership listed with the last renewal payment (for the current billing cycle) attributed to the previous customer.

We can see below that the membership will renew on the 24th and will attempt to charge Jane's card on file.

Move a customer from a subscription to a pack, using refunded credits

If a customer has purchased a subscription by accident, and you need to move them to a pack instead, this is possible by:

  • refunding the charge in credits

  • expiring the subscription

  • purchasing the pack with the credits

Allow customers to initiate a membership transfer on their own

You can now allow customers to transfer memberships on their own. To enable this, click Settings > General Setup > scroll to Misc. Settings. Near the bottom, toggle on 'Enable membership transfer by a member'. Then scroll to the bottom and save

Once the setting above is toggled on (and don't forget to Save those changes), customers on a membership will now see the following:

From their customer account, if they click Memberships, they'll see this dropdown option now includes 'Transfer Membership.'

A pop up will then allow them to choose which membership to transfer to on the next renewal. This pop up will display a warning that any incompatible bookings with the new membership will be cancelled.

(Ie. on the next renewal, when the transfer occurs, if customer is currently booked into certain classes that are not included in that new membership, they'll be cancelled out of those classes automatically).

Note that the customer will only see memberships that you've toggled on as 'Featured at Checkout.' You can control this from Memberships > Subscriptions and Packs > see the column for featured at checkout.
