What are 'Overlapping Appointments by Staff'?

You may already be familiar with 'overlapping appointments by venue' -- a setting that historically has allowed you to book multiple appointments at the same time, in the same venue, but with different instructors.

This is useful for large venues where multiple instructors can be working at the same time in the same place. But what if you want to allow customers to be able to book one instructor at the same time -- but with different individual appointments?

Overlapping Appointments by Staff is similar -- You can now allow staff to be booked performing the same service, at the same time, with different customers (or even different services at the same time).

What's an example of how I'd use this?

One use case might be Circuit Training -- where an instructor runs a group of customers through how to use multiple workout stations, and then monitors each one to help with technique.

Circuit training works as a 1 on 1 activity, but if more customers want to join, the more the merrier. Below, multiple customers have booked a single instructor at the same time for Circuit Training.

Where can I control this setting?

Either from General Appointment Settings (which applies to all boards)...

...or from an individual board's settings. (Note: a board's individual settings will always override the General Appointment settings.)

Should I also enable overlapping appointments by venue?

Most likely, and here's why: If you leave this setting off for venues and attempt to schedule more than one appointment:

  • with the same instructor

  • at the same venue

  • and at the same time,

then the pop up menu won't allow you to select the venue, like this.

How do I add more appointments to one instructor's schedule at the same time?

From an instructors schedule, hover over this area right next to the appointment and click it.
