Customers love deals. And deals can help you get new customers off the fence -- and onto regular memberships.

Below, we'll create something like a bogo -- more like a buy-one-get-something deal. Something that sounds too good to pass up. A limited time buy one 10 pack, get a 5 pack deal.

We'll walk you through how to:

1. Create a discount code that:

• gives 100% off that specific 5 pack

• is only usable once per customer

• expires on the date you want it to

2. Create a Marketing Sequence with:

• a Trigger that looks for a specific class pack purchase (a 10 pack in this case)

• a resulting Action that messages the purchasing customer that they can now purchase the 5 pack with a discount code (listed in the email).

3. Create a Marketing Template that we can reuse any time that:

• notifies all customers of the promo

• includes how long it will last -- to create a sense of urgency

• shares the link to the 10 pack's purchase page -- for an easy call to action

Consider setting a staff task to disable the sequence when the discount code expires.

Lets get started

First, identify 2 class packs you'd like to do this with.

Or, create two new ones by clicking: Memberships > Subscriptions & Packs > Create your 10 pack, then your 5 pack. Price them at whatever you would like customers normally to pay.

Afterward, make sure they're both featured at checkout so customers can find them.

Create the discount code

Click Studio Setup > Discount Codes > Create > name it > make it 100% off > choose Limited > set the usage limit to 1 per customer.

Next, set the expiration date (make a note of this for customer messaging later on) > under 'Applies to' select just the 5 pack (under subscriptions/packs) > click Create.

Create the Marketing Sequence

Click Marketing > Sequences > Create > Sequence from scratch > for the Trigger search for Purchase and select Membership purchase.

Associate this trigger with a specific membership purchase and select the 10 pack.

Then click Add Step > Add Action.

Click Add Content and add your messaging that includes your promo code. Ie. something like 'Thanks for your purchase of this 10 pack! You just earned yourself a free 5 pack which you can purchase here using discount code [insert discount code from previous step]. This promo code expires on [insert x date] so make sure to use it today!

Grab the links you'll need to share in the message

In a separate tab, go grab the purchase page for the 5 pack (click Memberships > Subscriptions and Packs > select Packs and click the 5 pack > the purchase page link is listed at the top of its details page)

Then grab the discount code you just created (Studio Setup > discount codes). Insert them here in the email's body.

Enable the sequence

Set a reminder to disable this sequence later

Set a staff task to disable the sequence when the discount code is set to expire > assign this to yourself or someone that has marketing suite privileges. Click Settings > Staff tasks.

Create a reusable Marketing Template to get the word out

Click Marketing templates > New Template > add your content. Something like:

--

Hey all! We're running a limited time offer where you can purchase this 10 pack [insert link to 10 pack] and get a free 5 pack! After your purchase of the 10 pack, keep an eye out for an email with special discount code and enjoy the benefits! This offer expires soon!

Send your announcement out to customers using One off Messages

After you've created this marketing template, its now available to use as a draft when creating a One-off message for easy reuse in the future.

Sit back, relax, go eat a sandwich.
