Understanding the Source of Unissued Gift Cards Received by Clients

Have you noticed several gift cards added to your gift card page or clients redeeming gift cards that you did not manually issue?

If so, this article will guide you on handling gift cards your clients received as part of an automated sequence trigger, even if they appeared to be received in error.

One thing you should be aware of is that if a sequence trigger generates a gift card for your clients, the following might occur:

  1. Your Gift cards page might show several purchased gift cards with the same amount loaded for all "purchases."

  2. On the client's History page on their profiles, you will notice a bought gift card with the payment option set as "Free."

If the above is correct, you should check your marketing sequences to see if you have an automated sequence variable generating these gift card codes.

  • Typically you'll want to look into your Intro Offer sequences as these are usually the ones that have the gift card variable trigger.

  1. Click on Marketing

  2. Click on Sequences

  3. Open your Sequence

  4. Look through the Actions to see if you find the {{gift_card_code}} variable
