Enable customers to self serve

Allow customers to create their own gift cards

Click Studio Setup > Gift Cards > Gift Card Creation Page > follow the prompts > copy the link & add it to your website. Enabling this will also allow customers on the mobile app to create gift cards there.

Enable the Gift Card Creation page on your mobile app

Click Settings > Offerings > Gift Card Creation page > enable it and set the preset amounts customers will see.

View / change the default email message that sends to the recipient

Within your Transactional Templates (Studio set-up > Transactional templates) there are 3 editable templates. Search for 'Gift card'.

The words in curly brackets {{ like this }} are used as placeholders to insert information relevant to the gift card, like an expiration date or promo code.

How to install a Gift Card Creation Page Plugin on your website

Most website builders (like GoDaddy, Squarespace, Wix, etc) have some kind of mechanism that looks like a plus sign, or something usually titled 'add section'.

On your website builder, locate the page where you'd like to add the gift card plugin and click that 'Add section' plus sign.

In the menu that pops up, search for 'html'. This will usually produce the option your looking for, which is a short form where you can add some custom HTML. It's often found under a section called 'Files and Web,' so if you're not seeing it, try searching for 'files and web.'

Now, in your Momence dashboard, grab that gift card plugin code by clicking Studio Setup > Plugins > Gift Cards > and copy the code you see.

If the preview you see to the right is not to your liking, you can make changes to this Gift Card Creation page from Studio Setup > Gift Cards > Gift Card Creation Page.

I'm a customer and i see no option to use my gift card when purchasing a class through Momence. How can I redeem it?

Two places:

First, you should have received an email with code to use. Paste that code into the 'promo code' field at checkout.

Second, you can also check your mobile app for any gift card codes that belong to you. Tap the icon for the business you're a customer of. Then tap gift cards.

(hint: depending on screen size you may not see gift cards initially. You may need to scroll by swiping the top menu to the left).

Tap any gift card to see copy options.

Gift Card FAQ's

How do I sell a gift card?

Select Home > Point of Sale > select a customer > in the Cart section, choose gift card > Add a new gift card (using the plus button). Fill in the amounts. To auto-generate a code, leave the field for Promo Code blank.

If a physical card exists, and you're using a bar code scanner, place your cursor in the 'gift card number' field and scan it in. Or just enter the code on the card.

Then, enter Amount > the Expiration if applicable > choose what its applicable to and click 'Add'. The gift card will now be available to select from the dropdown menu.

Click 'Add to cart' > choose payment method > click Charge Customer. A confirmation email with the code to use will be sent to the paying customer.

Note: If you sell a lot of gift cards, you can set yourself up for expedited gift card sales by generating a list of gift card codes and amounts in advance. These codes will be visible in that dropdown menu for easy adding to the cart (see screenshot below). To do this, in the left hand nav, click Studio set up > Gift cards > Add gift carts.

Can gift card purchasers send the gift card code at a later date?

Yes, on both web and mobile we give the purchaser the option to schedule this send date.

Does Momence provide physical Gift Cards?

Momence can only create a gift card code for your paying customer. If you are looking for a physical gift card to use in this process, we recommend ordering a stack from an online vendor, and, when they arrive, you can scan them as you create them during a sale.

Can I see who a gift card was purchased for?

You can see who purchased a gift card from Studio Setup > Gift Cards > search for the specific gift card number.

Click Studio Setup > Gift Cards > search for the specific gift card number. Under Purchase Link you'll see who made the purchase and for whom.

Note that if you're looking for 'Gifted' details (ie. who the customer gifted this card to, this level of detail is not available unless the customer was rung up using Point of Sale and paid for someone else. It currently will not show this detail if the customer filled out a gift card form on a gift card creation page or from your plugin.

Customer Experience

Where can customers see their active gift cards, balances and expiration dates?

On a customer's mobile app, the gift card tab contains all active gift cards and balances belonging to the customer.

This includes all gift cards they've purchased themselves as well as gift cards purchased for this customer by someone else.

How can customers copy codes to use or share

If a customer taps one of the listed gift cards, they'll see options to copy or even share the gift card code.

Copying the code can be helpful if they're about to pay for something and plan to enter this code in the 'promo code' field of a checkout.

If they share the code they'll be prompted to choose which messaging service, then a recipient.

And recipients that tap the code can easily copy it.

How can I remove the need for non-customers to fill in custom fields when purchasing gift cards?

For customers that purchase gift cards for others, you'll now have control over whether they need to fill out any custom field info.

You can control this from Customers > Custom Fields > edit a custom field > toggle on 'field is required' and you'll see an option to toggle off that its a requirement for gift card purchasers.

Are customers shown their balance at checkout?

After a purchase is made, your gift card holding customers will see a message reminding them of their current gift card balance and an expiration date if applicable.

Are they reminded about upcoming expirations?

You can choose to have balance/expiration reminders pop up at the top of the customer's app when they're browsing. Below, we'll cover how to do that.

Control when Expiration Reminders show for self serving customers

If you're using a gift card creation page (where customers can create their own gift card), you can preset when their expiration reminder will show. To set this, head to Studio Setup > Gift Cards > Gift Card Creation Page.

Can I edit an individual's gift card expiration reminder?

Yes. From Studio Setup > Gift Cards > edit a specific customer's gift card > scroll to 'Expiration Reminder.'

This will also show any time you're creating a new gift card (as long as you set an expiration date).
