A Stripe card reader lets you take in-person card payments from Momence Point of Sale (POS). Set up the reader first, then pair it with your Momence account.
Before You Start
You need:
a Stripe Reader S700 or S710: Payment devices
the USB-C cable and power adapter included in the box.
Wi-Fi or the optional Ethernet hub (sold separately).
Charge and Power On the Reader
Plug the USB-C cable into the port on the left side of the reader.
Plug the other end into the power adapter, then into an outlet.
Hold the power button on the right side until the screen turns on.
Tip: Use the cable and adapter that came with the reader. Other accessories can cause charging problems and may void the warranty.
Connect the Reader to Wi-Fi
Stripe has two Wi-Fi requirements for the reader.
Your Wi-Fi network is password-protected and uses WPA-Personal or WPA2-Personal encryption.
Both your computer and the reader are on a 2.4 GHz network.
To check which band your Mac uses, hold Option and click the Wi-Fi icon. The details show the channel your Wi-Fi uses. If you’re on 5 GHz, change the band on your router.
To connect the reader:
Swipe right from the left edge of the reader screen.
Tap Settings.
Enter the admin passcode PIN:

Select your network.
Note: Joining a new network disconnects the reader from the current one.
Connect the Reader With Ethernet (Optional)
You need the Ethernet hub, which is sold separately.
Connect the hub to your router with an Ethernet cable.
Connect the hub to power.
Use the reader’s USB-C cable to connect the hub and the reader. Insert the right-angle end into the reader.
When Ethernet is connected, the status bar shows a charging icon and an Ethernet icon. The reader then uses Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.
Change Reader Settings (Optional)
To change the theme or screen timeout, tap Settings > Appearance. The default timeout is 1 hour when the reader is unplugged.
To change the language, tap Settings and select a language.
Connect the Reader to Momence
In Momence, click Home > Point of Sale > Actions > New Card Reader.
Choose a location and name the card reader.
On the reader, swipe right from the left edge of the screen.
Tap Settings and enter the admin passcode PIN:
07139Under Admin Options, tap Generate a pairing code.
In Momence, enter the code in the Registration Code field.
Click Confirm registration.
Test the Connection
If the reader is on your network, Momence POS detects it and displays it when you use a card for payment.
Click Home > Point of Sale.
Add an item to the cart.
Under Payment at the bottom, select Card Reader > Open Card Reader.

Good to Know
Power: Leave the reader plugged in and on. It needs power to receive automatic software updates.
Battery: A full charge lasts about 15 hours.
Sleep or wake: Press the power button.
Power off: Press and hold the power button, then select the power off option.
Cellular: Only the S710 supports cellular.
