Passport allows 24-hour access gyms to restrict which customers get door access by using customer tags.

It first checks to see if the key fob they scan at the door matches the key ID in Passport's system. Then it checks to see if the customer has the correct tag associated with receiving door access. If both are present, the customer gains access.

This allows you to assign key fob IDs in Momence from a customer's profile, then tag a membership to give door access to everyone who is paying for that membership. You can also use sequences to auto-assign temporary tags for temporary access.

2 approaches to consider

1. Tagging Memberships for easy tagging of multiple customers at once

Assign or remove tags en masse from customers by tagging a membership -- for instance, if you only want active members to be able to unlock the door.

2. Using Sequences to give temporary access for individual customers

Sequences allow you to add and remove tags based on customer behavior -- for instance, if you want customers to only have door access 30 minutes before their appointment begins and then lose the ability to unlock the door after the appointment ends. We'll cover this approach in the second half of this article.

1. Tagging memberships:

This approach involves creating a membership, a tag, then assigning self check-in keys to customers.

Create the membership that will give access > then tag it (edit the membership, scroll to the bottom, and assign a tag). This ensures that everyone on this membership gets this tag.

Next, assign a self check-in key to each customer that will need access. Navigate to their profile via Customers > Customer List > click Actions > Self Check-In Keys.

Click Add New > add their Passport key code and Submit.

When everyone has been assigned their keys, navigate to Apps & Integrations > Integrations > Passport > click Enable Integration > choose the tags that will get access.

Enable the integration, pick the tags that will get access and click Save. Note that customers only need one tag for door access. Your customers can now unlock your Passport locks by scanning their card or key fob.

2. Using Sequences for temporary access for individual customers

Sequences allow you to have Momence auto-add or auto-remove tags for you -- for instance, Momence can check if a customer has an appointment coming up in the next 30 minutes and auto-add a tag granting door access, then automatically remove it a few hours later.

Assign self check-in keys to each customer

Click Customers > Customer List > click Actions > Self Check-In Keys > click Add New > add their Passport key code > click Submit. When everyone has been assigned their keys, navigate to Apps & Integrations > Integrations > Passport > click Enable Integration > choose the tags that will get access.

To create the sequence,

start by creating a customer tag via Customers > Tags > call it something like Temporary Door Access.

Next, create a sequence (Marketing > Sequences > Sequence from Scratch). Choose a trigger of Class Visit or Appointment Visit. Make sure you've toggled this setting off.

Click Add Step to add an action > choose Timing Offset 30 minutes before the class or appointment begins > choose Action Type: Add a Tag.

Next, click 'Add Step' (after the visit) to add a second action that removes the tag later on.

Here's how your second action can be created.

Your sequence will now look like this.

Lastly, you'll need to add this tag as an eligible tag from Apps & Integrations > Integrations > Passport. Enable the integration and you're all set.
